Tom’s brows dip low, and he picks his coffee cup up but doesn’t take a drink. “Is that really necessary, Dominick?”

  “Yes,” Nick says firmly.

Nick’s dad doesn’t look happy about that, but he doesn’t get a chance to say anything else about it because Janet quickly changes the subject by saying, “You should come visit. Nick could show you around Manhattan. There’s so much to do. The American Museum of Natural History is spectacular and one of Nick’s favorites. You must see the Empire State Building. I know it’s—”

“Mom, it’s only been a week,” Nick says.

She laughs lightly. “Of course. Sorry.” She looks over her shoulder. “Is John here? I tried calling but he didn’t answer.”

“Him and Colt left two days ago. We’re meeting them in California,” Aiden answers.

“We haven’t seen him since last year, right, honey?” Janet asks her quiet husband and then turns back to me. “We used to be the best of friends with your parents. We still love them both dearly, even if our busy lives don’t allow us to see each other very often.” Her eyes fill with tears, and she reaches out to take my hand that’s resting on the table. “You were like a daughter to me. Now you’re so grown up, and so beautiful.”

I have no idea what to say, but I feel really uncomfortable. Nick’s mom is nice, but more emotional than I was expecting. I guess I thought she’d be like Nora.

Janet gives my hand a gentle squeeze before letting go. “Sorry I’m crying so much. I’m just so glad you’re home. I know the boys put a lot of work into the interviews. They were determined to find you.” She fans her face with her right hand while wiping wetness from her face with her left. “Someone change the subject before I start bawling and can’t stop.”

Nick settles his hand on my thigh under the table. “How’s work, Dad?”

Tom seems to perk up. He straightens in the chair, sets his cup on the table, and then begins to spout off numbers and statistics that have my eyes crossing. Whatever it is that Tom does for a living, I need to steer clear of that career.

When Tom’s done rambling, Janet turns the conversation back to me, asking questions about my life and adoptive parents. I keep the answers short, not wanting to get into the grueling details of what a mess I was. My mom was a saint to put up with what I put her through the first few years.

Tilly comes in a little while later, and Nick’s mom swoons over her until Tom says, “It’s getting late, Janet. I have that business call, and we still need to eat.” He gets to his feet and the rest of the table follows.

“Let me get a picture of them first,” Janet says, pulling a phone from her purse. “Hayley, stand between Nick and Aiden.” She smiles and her eyes tear up as I move into place. “Get closer. There, just like that. Now smile.” The camera clicks, and she looks up at her husband, showing him the picture she took. “Look at that.” She wipes away a tear. “I’m going to get this framed.”

Nick chuckles and pulls his mom in for a hug. “Are you guys staying in town?”

“No, I have a meeting tomorrow that I couldn’t reschedule,” Tom answers for her. “We’re flying out in the morning.”

“You’ll both have to come to New York soon,” Janet says, stepping around Nick to give me a hug. “All of you are welcome.” She pulls away from me to give Tilly a quick hug. “I’m so thankful that she had you,” I hear Janet whisper to my sister.

“I’ll call tomorrow, Nick. We have a few things to discuss,” Tom says.

His face is tight, body stiff, and lips thinned. I don’t think he’s smiled all night. Janet and Tom seem to have opposite personalities. I’ll have to remember to ask Nick why his dad is an uptight asshole. Hooking her arm around Tom’s, Janet waves and blows us a kiss before leaving the room.

“Why’s Rose saying she’s here?” Aiden asks, staring at his phone like it’s going to murder him.

“I might have invited her.” Rocco grins at Aiden’s glare. “Sorry, bro. Thought you’d be happy.”

Aiden’s phone dings, and he whispers, “Shit” and bolts from the room.

“Um, I thought you said Aiden liked her?” I say to Rocco.

“Aiden...” Rocco pauses. “He does like her. He’s been different… better since you were found, so you didn’t see how he was before. I don’t know how to explain it.” He rubs the back of his neck. “It was like he didn’t want to live a full life if you weren’t. He liked Rose, but to him, dating her, or having fun would mean turning his back on you.”

  “That’s so sad,” Tilly says.

“I’m sure, Anna.” I pause because I need to stop referring to her as someone else. I am Anna Westling. “I wouldn’t want anyone to stop living their life if I was gone.”

“That’s what we told him, but Aiden’s stubborn like you,” Nick says, and I roll my eyes.

“Let’s head to the garage.” Rocco slips his arm around Tilly’s waist. “Maybe we’ll find Rose and Aiden on the way. I’m ready to get tonight started.” He dances next to her playfully and they both laugh as they walk forward.

“Maybe she’ll be your future sister-in-law,” Tilly chimes, stretching her neck to look at me because she and Rocco are several steps ahead of Nick and me.

I slow my pace, but Nick drops his arm over my shoulders, not letting me stop completely. I never thought about having a sister-in-law. I hate most girls. I only really get along with Grace and it’s because she’s fucked-up like me.

  Shit, Grace.

I need to call her soon. She’s messaged me a few times since I’ve been here, but I haven’t answered. I don’t want to lie to her, and I’m not ready to explain what’s going on.

Down the hall, Aiden’s talking to a slim girl with shoulder-length dark brown hair. They hear us approaching and turn to look. I hold in my laugh at Aiden’s pained expression. Poor guy.

Rose is beautiful. I don’t think she has much makeup on, but there are no blemishes on her creamy white skin. The maroon, high-waisted skirt she’s wearing stops just above her knees, a black sleeveless top tucked into it. Rose has the body of a model. She has the height too. Her four-inch heels have her almost eye level with my brother.

Tilly’s the first to break the silence. “You must be Rose. I’m Tilly and this is Hayley. It’s nice to meet you.”

Rose’s smile is friendly. “Nice to meet you both.” Her cheeks tint pink.

Aiden sticks his hands in his pockets and looks up at the ceiling. They both look awkward as hell. I’m not used to seeing Aiden like this. I’m not really used to seeing him at all, but I wouldn’t have thought Aiden Westling would be skittish around women.

Rose folds her arms over her stomach and glances at Aiden. “Should we go?”

Everyone answers at once, at least we’re all in agreement. Nick wraps his arm around my waist, Rocco does the same to Tilly, and Aiden and Rose keep a couple feet between them as we make our way to the garage. I’m mentally trying to work out how we are all going to fit into one vehicle. I’m not sitting on anyone’s lap, that always makes for an uncomfortable car ride.

“We’ll meet you guys there. We got a spot in VIP,” Rocco says, pulling a key fob from his pocket and heading for a shiny blue two-door.

I glare at the back of Tilly’s head as Rocco pulls the door open so she can scoot in. I’m mentally screaming for her to turn around and look at me. I don’t want to go in the same car as awkward Rose and Aiden on some fake double date thing.

  Shit.

“Tilly!” I shout, my echo bouncing off the garage walls, right as Rocco’s getting ready to close her door.

She jerks her head to look at me just like everyone else, and they are all looking at me like I’m nuts. “I…” I glance at Aiden. Fuck, I don’t want to hurt his feelings by saying I’m riding with her. “Don’t forget to buckle up.”

“Okay,” she says hesitantly. “See you there.”

She gives me a last look of confusion as Rocco shuts her door. I turn toward the SUV where Nick’
s holding the passenger door open for me. I hop in, and Nick takes the driver’s seat while Rose and Aiden slip into the back. At least the whole double date thing got me out of sitting in the back trying to make small talk with Little Miss Timid.

I’ve never been great with her type. I want to shake the shit out of people like that and tell them to speak up.

As soon as the engine roars to life, I reach for the radio. It takes me a minute to figure out how to work this fancy shit, but I manage to find some metal and turn it up. There, no more awkwardness. I turn my head to look out the window and watch everything fly by in a blur of color. We’re going way over the speed limit.

  Perfect.

Hopefully the ride there won’t take long.

  Chapter 4

The two-story building is a step up from the one and only club I’ve ever been to. Sweaty bodies move to the beat at the center of the club while people above watch and drink. It looks like there might be tables up there but it’s too hard to see from down here.

A black sign with red writing marks the VIP section. We have a perfect view of the dance floor but are tucked away enough to have privacy. I can feel the bass from the music in my chest. I’m kinda digging the vibe, and my body is restless with the need to dance.

A few rounds of drinks are drained, loosening everyone up. The awkward air around Rose and Aiden is less noticeable as they chat quietly with each other on an L-shaped sofa. I shouldn’t judge, but if you can’t be comfortable around the person you like unless you’re drunk, they probably aren’t the one. But what the fuck do I know? Maybe there’s more to their story.

“Let’s go dance!” Tilly hollers to me over the music and then glances at Rose. “You want to, Rose?”

Rose bites her lip and shakes her head. “Maybe later.” Her voice is soft, feminine, and barely audible over the noise.

“You like to dance, Nick?” I let my gaze roam over his body.

He leans in, lips brushing against my ear. “I like to feel you moving against my dick.”

Heat flares between my thighs, and I lick my lips. This guy. Just a couple words whispered in my ear and I’m wet for him. With his hands on my hips, we follow Tilly and Rocco single file toward the dance floor.

The whole place is packed, but the dance floor is crazy. We manage to make our way to the center where I begin to move right away. Nick doesn’t hesitate to press close. I roll, shake, and grind against him. His hard dick presses against my ass and then my lower belly as he spins me so we can grind face to face.

Fuck, he’s good at this. I grip the back of his neck while I watch our hips move together. He gently tugs my hair to bring my gaze up to his, and then he traces my bottom lip with the rough pad of his thumb. I nip at it before pulling him into my mouth and sucking.

He slowly mouths, “Fuck.” His eyes locked on his thumb in my mouth. I lick the tip before releasing him, and then I spin around and slowly sway my hips, my ass moving against his hardness. He fists my hair, tugging until I tilt my head to the side. His lips find the column of my neck, he sucks, we grind.

Tilly’s laugh has me glancing to the left. She and Rocco are moving together—not as provocatively as me and Nick, and I don’t know if it’s the drinks or that I’m used to the idea of them, but they look good together.

Tilly’s eyes find mine. “Water!” She holds her hand in the shape of a C, brings it to her lips, and points toward the bar.

I nod and step forward, my body leaving Nick’s. “I’ll come with you.”

She shakes her head and fans her face; we’re both sweating like crazy. “Rocco’s coming with me.” She winks. “Have fun.”

I laugh and take my place against Nick, but he’s not moving anymore. I turn around to see what’s up, and there’s a guy. He’s crazy tall—at least six-foot-four, and his clothes look a little baggy on his thin frame. His brown hair is buzzed low all over. He motions to the right and then Nick’s pulling me that way.

“Who’s this?” the guy asks Nick when we make it to the bar. He’s smiling down at me like I’m some slut that’s going to suck his dick.

“My girl,” Nick says. “Baby, this is Ian Callaway.”

“Your girl?” Ian asks with a smirk and a raised brow like he doesn’t believe him. “She looks like fun.” His gaze drops to my legs, and I knew I shouldn’t have worn this fucking dress.

“Watch your mouth,” Nick practically growls, his gaze narrowed at his buddy.

Ian’s brows dip as he stares at me, but he shakes it off and focuses back on Nick. “I’m just playing around, man. Where’s Aiden and Casey?”

“Aiden’s in VIP, and you know how Casey is. He can’t sit still.”

“Yeah, I saw him earlier over at Blue Ridge, figured he might have followed you here.” Ian’s hooded gaze slides back to me.

“Bro, I need you to quit eye fucking my girl.”

Ian laughs. “Sorry, man. She’s hot.”

  “Hot and mine,” Nick says.

I know we’re pretending to be dating tonight, but Nick sounds serious—possessive. A small part of me likes it. I lean into him. I’ll be Cinderella for the night.

“You turning soft? Settling down and shit?” Ian laughs. “So, what’s been up, man?” Ian grabs a drink that the bartender slides his way.

“Not much, headed back to California in a few.” Nick gestures to the bartender. “I see you’re still a regular.”

“You know me,” Ian says with a smirk. “And what about you, girl? You permanent to Florida?”

“She’ll be coming with me,” Nick answers for me, his tone clipped.

Ian chuckles. “I see.” He sips his drink. “Well, Nick, maybe I’ll see you around.” His gaze cuts to me. “But I won’t hold my breath. You two have a good night.” He juts his chin to the right. “My girls are waiting on me.”

Two blondes—one in a tiny dress and the other in a skirt are lingering at the end of the bar, eyes locked on Ian. He walks over and drops one arm over either girl’s shoulders. They snuggle up to him and the three of them walk into the crowd.

“Well, he was interesting. How do you know him?” I ask.

Nick’s body is tense as he stares in the direction Ian disappeared to. “We had mutual friends.”

  “Had?”

He sighs, meeting my eyes. “I used to hang with them, and now I don’t.”

“And why don’t you,” I ask, pushing for answers.

“I grew up. They haven’t.” He pulls me against him and nips my earlobe. “I don’t think I can dance anymore.” His hands slide down my body to cup my ass. “My dick wants inside your pretty pussy, princess.”

“Bathroom?” I smirk, my horny vagina clenching with the idea of getting fucked on a counter again.

Nick grins sinfully. “I have a better idea.”

Threading his fingers through mine, he guides me to the front of the club and then out the door to the parking lot all while whispering things to make my body ache for his. My panties are soaked, and it’s getting uncomfortable to walk.

My body heats with excitement when the SUV comes into view. We move into the back seat and quickly get into position with Nick’s jeans around his ankles and me on his lap. He tugs the base of my hair and kisses me deeply.

Maybe the dress was a good idea.

  Easy access.

He cups my ass, grinding me against his shaft as his tongue circles mine. He pulls my panties to the side, and I moan as his heat touches mine.

“My pussy,” he groans against my mouth. “So wet for me.”

I lift my hips so his dick can inch its way inside. When he’s halfway in, he thrusts up, pushing the rest of the way. I hiss into his mouth at the sharp sting that has me clenching around him.

“Raise your arms, baby. I need those titties in my mouth.” He pulls my dress off in one quick move and then his hot mouth is licking and sucking one nipple while his fingers pinch and palm the other. Planting my hands on his shoulders, I begin to move up and down. My whol
e body is already worked up with the need to come.

He brings his mouth back to mine for a second before pulling my chest flush with his. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I move on his dick just the way I like.

Being selfish has its perks, like in the bedroom. I know just what to do to achieve orgasm, not giving a fuck how I look or how it might feel to the other person. I will get mine. It feels too damn good not to.

I move his hand between us, pressing two of his fingers against my clit as I bounce up and down. “Fuck, I’m almost there. Keep doing that,” I say, and thankfully he keeps the rhythm consistent enough for me to explode around his dick. Unmoving and squeezing my eyes shut, I ride out the pulsing waves of my orgasm. I kiss him when I come down enough to think straight. “Mmm, so good,” I whisper over his mouth.

“Your pussy’s so good,” Nick murmurs, eyes staring into mine.

Watching each other, I start to move again, quickly getting back to a fast pace. Nick’s hands cup my ass, squeezing and guiding. His fingers dig into my skin and that pain plus how good his dick feels has another orgasm building. I brace my hands on the back of the seat and slide up and down his cock as hard and fast as I can. I want that second orgasm.

He brushes my hair to the side and kisses and sucks on my neck while digging his fingers in even harder. I press my finger to my clit and scream as I come, my movements sloppy and my legs shaking. Nick follows behind a minute later, pulling out, his cum shooting all over my ass. He kisses me hard, brushing his thumbs over my sensitive nipples.

Our bodies are hot and sweaty, but luckily, we won’t be getting a ticket for indecent exposure because the windows are fogged up. I’m just now noticing how stuffy it is, though. I need fresh air. Not moving from his lap, I twist side to side, looking around for something to clean up with but there’s nothing in sight.

“Should be tissues in the glove box,” Nick says.

Scooting back to sit on the middle console, I lean to the side and grab a handful. Nick takes the stack from my hand and motions for me to twist to the side. I do and he wipes the cum off my ass and then uses a fresh tissue to wipe my wet pussy.
